Brand review
GreenPan says more about its coating chemistry than most brands, and then writes its headline claim in a way that quietly narrows it. Both things are true, and the sentence is worth reading twice.
We cannot tell you whether a GreenPan is safe to cook on. We have no laboratory, and anybody claiming otherwise from a desk is guessing.
What we can do is read the claim. And GreenPan’s is one of the more interesting sentences in this category, because it contains two different promises wearing one coat.
It is a disclosure score out of 100, not a safety rating: what it is made of, who tested it, where it is made, whether the claim matches the evidence. A pan can score 20 and be perfectly fine to cook in. What a low score means is that nobody outside the company can check. The rubric is here.

Says more about its coating chemistry than most — silicon-based, from a sand derivative — and names the four regimes the coating was tested against. Then undercuts it with the widest gap between claim and substantiation on this page.

More forthcoming than most on chemistry, and then it undercuts itself on the claim. GreenPan will tell you the coating is silicon-based and derived from sand, and it names four regulatory regimes it was tested against. That is genuinely more than Our Place or Caraway offer on composition.
Then it writes the headline as “PFAS-free … Made Without Intentionally Added PFAS”. Those are not the same statement. The first is absolute; the second is a manufacturing commitment that says nothing about what might be present unintentionally. That gap is the four points.
The test that would close it is total organic fluorine, which screens for fluorine of any kind rather than a list of named compounds. Nobody in this category publishes it, and targeted testing has been shown to miss most of what is there.
